Top Drives

Our new generation of top drives utilizes a combination of established and innovative new designs, to significantly improve drilling efficiency and reliability. TSC Offshore uses proven motor magnetic design in our own housing to ensure ready availability while minimizing the thermal / high current density issues. This design is coupled with a thru-the-center mud path to provide a very compact energy package.

The compact energy package is coupled to a proven planetary gear design for very high efficiency and reliability. The package is mounted in the main housing with a unique bail arrangement that ensures that the center of gravity is below the bail pivot point. This ensures that the top drive always hangs vertically without any undue stress on the dollies or track system. Our thread compensation system picks up the string, not the top drive. That means no hydraulics up the service loop or onboard Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU).
